New Year’s Eve Fashion for Moms

New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse to get fabulous.

Especially for Moms.

Whether you (miraculously) found a babysitter and are actually going out for the night, or staying in with your partner and a cold bottle of champagne, why not try one of the latest beauty & fashion trends while ringing in 2013?

Sure, you spend your days in really, really old yoga pants, and your idea of make-up is Chapstick and running your less-sticky hand through your hair a couple times.

But that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to shine!

With a little inspiration from Pinterest, some of my Mom blogger friends and I put these trends to the test, proving you, too, can make them work. So get on it!

Trend#1: GLITTERY LIPS

I’ll be staying in on New Year’s Eve, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make the glittery lips look work from my couch. Look out, honey: it’s time for a count down kiss!

Trend#2: CRIMPED HAIR

Alicia of NapsHappen hasn’t used a crimping iron in twenty years, but that’s no reason to shy away from the re-emergence of this wavy trend! Dust that bad boy off, break out the can of Aqua Net & go to town!

Trend #3: BUTTERFLY ACCESSORIES

Robyn of HollowTreeVentures has never shied away from her artistic side. It may not be butterfly season in her neck of the woods, but that didn’t stop her from crafting a solution to her headpiece needs.

Trend #4: THE WET LOOK

Nicole of NinjaMomBlog looks sultry for her celebratory evening in with her hunky husband. Once she gets those four kids tucked in, he’s in for a treat!

Trend #5: MULTI-COLORED MANICURE

ToulouseAndTonic has fingernails and her kids love to paint. What better than to let them give her THE manicure of the season?

Trend #6: OMBRE LIPS

Rebecca of FrugalistaBlog has proved her beauty and fashion sense many times over. Now her ability to pull off the ombre lip look proves you can do it, too.

Trend #7: BRAIDED CROWN

Paige Kellerman has a luscious head of hair, and the skills to create a glorious hirstute crown to wear while ringing in the New Year with her brood of babies who refuse to sleep.

Trend #8: FACIAL HAIR

Nothing is more on-trend than facial hair.
No one makes it sexier than Kelley of Kelley’s Break Room.

Trend #9: BOLD BROWS

If you have beautiful eyes like Kerry of HouseTalkN, a great way to draw attention to them is simple make-up with a bold brow. Don’t you agree?

Trend #10: PATTERNED PANTS

Great legs, like those of Jessica from FourPlusAnAngel, can rock patterned pants. No one will ever be able to tell they’re homemade. No one.

Trend #11: BLACK & WHITE STRIPES

Andrea of Underachiever’s Guide to Being a Domestic Goddess makes the right call: this classic color combo begs to be paired with dancing shoes!

Trend #12: FEATHERS

Keesha of Mom’sNewStage‘s face is stunningly framed
in flirty feathers for her big night out!

Trend #13: CAT EYES & GAP TEETH

Anna of MyLifeAndKids is dedicated to looking gorgeous. She used liquid liner to draw on her cat’s eyes, and a pair of pliers to yank out her two front teeth for the trend-setting gap-toothed look. Anyone with a pair (and a strong grip) can do it!

Trend #14: SALLY DOLL

Taking inspiration from her kids’ toy collection, Meredith of MomOfTheYear masters the most youthful look of all: re-creating a Sally Doll on her own face.
It’s like she’s a kid again!

See?

If us busy moms can make our
New Year’s Eve fashionable and fun, so can you.

Happy 2013!

Since I ascribe to the old adage that MORE IS MORE, I think I’ll try them all on New Year’s Eve. Even though I’m staying home. It’ll take me so long to get ready, I’ll have to take off my butterfly net and go to bed immediately after the final touch. Cheers and Happy New Year!

  3. So much to chose from. I think I may rock the braids, right after I cover my face in glitter. I enjoy subtle, reserved fashion.

  4. Teresa says:

Holy crap, seriously??? Gap teeth are a trend? Do you have to have the cat eyes? Cause I can draw those on and be so trendy it hurts!

  5. Valerie says:

I am gonna rock these all at the same time… Because that’s just how I roll.

    Hugs!

This cracked me up! Laughed out loud all throughout it. Nicole on the toilet was too much. Loved it!

  9. Meredith says:

Perfect! Off to rock this New Year’s Eve! Do you think the glitter lips and brows will work for a wedding in a couple weeks too? I don’t want to upstage the bride…

  15. OHMYGOD we’re all so gorgeous. My husband walked in on me secretly taking pictures of myself with paper butterflies all over my head, and he laughed so hard he had to sit down, which is exactly the kind of glamour I’d hoped to achieve. Kudos to you for pulling this together and inspiring everyone to style it up this year!

  21. The “wet look” slayed me. With that and all the glitter and netting and butterflies and bright colors it’s like the practical jokesters of the fashion industry are trying to turn us into psychedelic mermaids. You guys are awesome! Happy New Year! (I’ll be rocking the “asleep” look this NYE…)
