Today is my kids’ last day of school.
I’m a Stay-at-Home-Mom who can’t put them in camp all summer.
They thrive on routine, love school, love seeing all their friends every day.
Which means that once Summer Break begins in a couple hours, I am screwed.
Here’s a little ditty I came up with that expresses my concerns. I hope you like it.
Just sing my words along to the beat of a song you might already be familiar with.

Well said, my friend. Well said. I am sitting and crying as we speak.

A fellow weeper. I appreciate the camaraderie.
Excellent, Kim! I’m glad you were able to identify at least two options that don’t include putting the kids up for adoption . As a gramma now, I am trying to help my daughters keep their sanity by taking the kids when I can. They are normal children (two 4 y.o. boys, one 2 y.o. boy, and a 15 m.o. girl) so they’re lovely, lively, and sometimes completely wild. Good (temporary) fun for gramma and grampa translates into the kids all surviving for a few more hours while the respective mama gets a chance to catch her breath. Loved the tune & the sentiment.

I’m an optimist, so there’s always hope.
And from one mom to another, thank you for taking your grandkids so she can get a break!
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Good luck!

Thanks, Sue!
I LOVED this–thanks!
Glad you did, happy summer!
Oh, God, Kim, I’m falling over laughing! I love good parody – you really match the words closely with the original lyrics, and that’s an art… I HAVE to send this to some girlfriends, because we’re all musicians and silly women and all have had (or are having) the kid summer experience.
Truly, you are a genius! Love, Amy

Aw, thanks Amy. I do this a lot in my head (have you seen my posts A Dedication (F*** You) & Santa, Baby? You may like those, too), and it helps me keep a sense of humor.
But OOOoooohhh summer. Please send help.
I’m keeping Aviv OUT of camp most of the summer for all sorts of reasons… I’m hoping I don’t want to blow my brains out by August! I work until 4:30 but maybe we can plan some 5pm mom-dates where the kids can keep themselves busy? I don’t like saying playdate. Winedate? LOL

Did you build a soundproof chamber in your new studio?
I’m totally ready for post-5pm wine dates!
