The Day I Was the Featured Writer on Write on Edge

Today I am the featured writer over at Write on Edge.

I’ve been writing responses to their memoir prompts since they began in February this year.

Please go visit their post, read what I have to say over there today, see which piece I’ve written has been most important to me.

Once you’re done, I invite you to come back here. I will link related posts below, which you can read with a new understanding.  Why it took writing about the past, in the hopes of making a better future, to make me see what I needed to stop hiding my secrets, today.

Thank you for reading, supporting, giving feedback, concrit, and being a part of this journey with me.

Thank you for simply trying to understand me and my words.  I cannot explain how much this means to me.

~ Kim

The following are writing prompt pieces that you can understand better once you read the piece on Write on Edge today, starting with the oldest:

And Then She Opened the Door

Secrets and Words

Shades of Gray

Exhale

In a Flash

Through the Trees

Room to Stretch

Changing the Station

I do not like to be judged by the secrets I’ve kept.  But I also do not want to encourage others to keep their own pain a secret.  Especially if I, or anyone else, can reach out a hand to help them, or words to let them know that they are not alone.  None of us deserve to feel alone.

~~~
Write on Edge is an incredibly supportive writing community that I am thankful to have found just about a year ago.  Not only do they offer great writing prompts every week, but also tips to write better, get published, hone your skills.  The people I have “met” there have been a gift to me.  I encourage everyone to come check it out, read along, and join in.
  1. Abby says:
    Secrets keep you sick, and secrets keep you in pain. Sharing them in a safe environment opens you up to the healing, the support and the closure that you just might seek (at least I found this to be true.)
    I’ve read all these posts and send virtual hugs, my friend. Thank you for sharing your story!
  2. I think you are so brave. I also think that opening up, and letting the secrets out, even if they’re just hinted at, will help you heal. Secrets are not who you are, they don’t define you, and they lose their power when they’re no longer kept secret.
    I love the quote about building a future different from your past. Was that from a post?
